| Name: | AU!Nitta Isamu/Amala |
|---|---|
| Birthdate: | 01-17 |
Character: Nitta Isamu/Amala
Series/Fandom: Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne
Original or Alternate: Alternate
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Species: Half-demon
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Appearance: Isamu’s true, demonic appearance is abnormal, to say the least. His skin is pale and covered with what can only be described as fleshy, blob-like faces on the skin along his chest with hollow black eyes and gaping mouths. They wiggle and move randomly in place from time to time, very much alive. It’s possible for him to withdraw them and keep them hidden, but it causes him to revert to how he looked as a human.
When they’re out, he wears no shirt, only a long string of interchanging red-and-white beads around his neck, a black hat, and blue jean pants with a few long, thin slashes against the knee and thigh area. When human, he tends to add on a black, button-up shirt with a white T-shirt underneath it and simple black shoes. Very rarely will he wear a shirt when in his demon form.
His eyes are a deep gold, framed by a permanent ring of black around each, though they turn a dark green-brown when he returns to a human form. It’s almost impossible to see him without a smirk on his lips regardless of appearance, and his black hair curves and hangs around his face constantly.
Personality: The first thing to note is Isamu’s split personality. One his simply himself, Isamu, a confidant extrovert with a love for attention. He’s obviously very cocky and a touch self-centered, though, once upon a time, his friends were the world to him.
Oftentimes, Isamu can come off as... well, insane. He enjoys preaching about his Reason and the glory and logic of living in one’s own private world, careless to what others have to say about it. He also seems to have a faint fondness for messing with others on occasion. When he gets like this, he tends to smile and act unusually cheerful, only adding to his unstable air.
Secretly, Isamu has a terrible fear of being alone, and it’s that fear that eventually drove him to alienate himself from his friends and from the world, seeking an existence where everyone could find individuality through isolation, living in their own private worlds without clashing with anyone else. A flawed concept, as individuality can only be made by conflicting and interacting with the world around you, and deep down, Isamu knows this. His longing for the world of isolation is only an excuse to have a place without responsibility or consequence.
Isamu has long since lost faith in others, looking only to himself for support and guidance. He doesn’t believe he can rely on anyone else, as he believes they will only abandon him. A part of him still contains some base concern for the people that used to be his friends, but for the most part, Isamu wants to try and forget them unless they prove useful somehow. It doesn’t mean he’ll treat everyone harshly, but he won’t ever bother to help or work with anyone if he can help it.
The other side of him is known only as Amala. This part of Isamu’s personality was forged when the boy merged himself with the Amala Network and it’s terminals, fusing himself with a demon inhabiting the Network paths without realizing it. It’s much more cold than Isamu, looking at things without bias or true care, be it a situation or a person. Amala is more than capable of emotion, and is almost overflowing with them. It can go from a blind rage to perfectly calm in seconds, flipping from one extreme to another and anywhere in-between at will.
Both Isamu and Amala operate like two completely separate people. While they are both aware of the other’s existence, only one can have complete control at a time. Whoever isn’t in the lead is simply sitting in the back of the mind, vaguely aware of what the other is doing, though without being able to know more than the other. Amala knows far more than Isamu knows or possibly ever will, and information between the two is only shared when one decides to let the other know about something. For all intents and purposes, they act as two different individuals.
Abilities/Strengths: Isamu has only one skill: he’s an electrokinetic, able to generate and control electricity with ease, be it simply using it to interfere with other electronics, creating bolts, forming balls, or just shocking someone by skin-to-skin contact.
Amala is able to activate a few different abilities when in control, due mostly to the face-like growths supplementing it’s strength. Isamu’s electrokinesis carries over to Amala, but the demon itself has greater control of it than Isamu does, being electric in nature.
It can also insert a part of it’s consciousness into any electronic device, connecting it to it’s own internal Network terminal and making it a sub-terminal and treated as part of it’s Network. By doing this, Amala can use the new sub-terminal as a peephole, looking through it to further educate itself. It can do nothing but idle in the background of the system for a short time, watching.
Amala is capable of creating a red shell-like shield around itself, blocking physical damage. It’s not perfect and can break after a while, but it’s usually used only as a last resort or during an escape. When formed, it can levitate a few feet off the ground and move about with Amala inside.
Weaknesses: Isamu is physically weak, and while he’s street-smart, he’s not too much brighter than your average teenage boy. He’s also intent on alienating himself from everyone, refusing help or companionship from anyone- even if he needs it. Isamu is his own greatest enemy, with his belief and overconfidence in himself leading to overlooking his shortcomings and weaknesses, leaving them unguarded more often than not. Some hidden part of him is still scared of being left alone, though it’s smothered under his denial that anyone is worth the trouble or effort of friendship as well as Amala’s influence. Even so, it’s not impossible to break down to that base fear, and one could easily take him apart from there.
He also has a loose grip on his electrokinesis, causing it to short out frequently.
Amala’s weaknesses are similar to Isamu’s, especially in the overconfidence department. It also believes in itself as the only thing it can rely on for anything, though more out of seeing itself as perfect than in fear of being betrayed or abandoned, as the case is with Isamu. It’s also very weak to magic, being able to only block one sort of spell at a time, and even then, it still has a high chance of not being able to block at all, as the skill has become corrupt upon merging with Isamu. The merge also took away Amala’s omnipotence, a loss it’s never truly gotten over.
Though Isamu is it’s host, Amala has an obvious dislike of the boy, and has little problems forcing Isamu back into control when things are looking bad so he takes all the damage and blame. The fact that the two are, in essence, separated, there is often mistrust and fighting between them, and sometimes one will act out to punish the other, resulting in them having a very strained, unstable relationship.
